Retired Orleans Civil District Court Judge Gerald P. Fedoroff, 77, died Thursday, June 12, 2008. In 1954 he earned his LL.M. degree from Loyola University School of Law where he was appointed to serve on the Loyola Law Review. After serving two years active duty as an officer in the United States Counter-Intelligence Corps, he served as law clerk with Orleans Civil District Court in 1956. In 1957, he was the law clerk for Louisiana Supreme Court Justice E. Howard McCaleb. From 1958 until 1970, he was in the private practice of law. He also served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of New Orleans. In October 1970, he was appointed to the Civil District Court bench and served there until his retirement in 2001, during which time he also served as chief judge. He was a member of a number of professional and civic organizations.
